Itching for a close encounter with ocean life? The Kona Coast has adventures waiting for you in some of the best waters of the state.

Ocean Tours: One of the best ways to experience the beautiful waters of the Kona coast is on an ocean tour. Ride rigid-hull rafts, sailing catamarans, or glass bottom boats. Whale Watching: During the months of December to April, humpback whales come to Hawaii to breed, making it an exciting time to whale watch! Humpbacks sometimes put on a show visible from shore, but to get an up close look at these mighty mammals, as well as other whale species that inhabit Kona's waters, check out one of the listed whale watching boat tours.

Swim with Dolphins: You have a pretty good chance of seeing dolphins riding the waves next to your boat when you're on a tour (or when you're snorkeling, if you're really lucky), but if you want to guarantee some up close and personal time with these playful creatures, try Dolphin Quest at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. Dive with Manta Rays: For the truly adventurous, you won't want to miss the chance to dive at night with the manta ray. Swim next to these amazing giants of the sea as they group together to feed. Like creatures out of a sci-fi movie, these gargantuan animals fly though the ocean with wingspans some 8 ft or more across. Tours available for snorklers as well as divers.
